Booking with us

Booking terms

How booking, paying and cancelling work when you book directly with us — in plain language.

Last updated 24 September 2026

About these terms

These terms apply when you book a stay directly with Anahata Nature Resort — on this website, by phone, by WhatsApp or by email. They form the agreement between you and us.

If you booked through Airbnb, Booking.com or LekkeSlaap, that platform's own terms and cancellation policy apply to your booking instead. Our house rules apply to every guest, however they booked.

Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other South African law.

Making a booking

An enquiry is not a booking. Your booking is confirmed only once we have received your payment (or your deposit) and sent you a confirmation with your booking reference.

The person making the booking must be 18 or older, and is responsible for everyone staying under it. Please give us accurate contact details — they are how we reach you about your stay.

Prices

Prices are in South African rand. The estimate shown on this website covers the cabin only. Experiences are priced and confirmed separately, and extra firewood for the pool is bought on the property.

The price we confirm when you book is the price you pay for those dates, even if our rates change afterwards.

Paying

Depending on how far ahead you book, you can pay in one of three ways:

  • In full when you book.
  • A 50% deposit when you book, with the balance due 7 days before your arrival.
  • On our payment plan: a R200 deposit secures your dates, and the balance is paid in monthly instalments on the schedule we confirm when you book. The R200 is deducted from your total.

Bookings made within 7 days of arrival must be paid in full when you book.

If a payment is not made by its due date, we will remind you. If it is still not made, we may cancel the booking, and the cancellation policy below applies from that date.

Online payments are processed by PayFast. We never see or store your card details.

If you need to cancel

Tell us in writing — email bookings@anahataresort.co.za or WhatsApp us — with your booking reference. The date we receive your message is the date of cancellation.

How much we refund depends on how long before your arrival date you cancel:

  • 14 days or more before arrival — a full refund.
  • 7 to 13 days before arrival — a 50% refund.
  • Less than 7 days before arrival — no refund.

If you cannot come because of the death or hospitalisation of the person the booking was for, we refund everything you have paid, however late you tell us. We may ask for reasonable proof.

The R200 payment-plan deposit

If you book on our payment plan, the R200 deposit that secures your dates is deducted from your total when you complete your booking. It is not refundable if you cancel, at any point — except in the case of death or hospitalisation described above, where it is refunded with everything else.

No-shows, late arrivals and early departures

If you do not arrive and have not told us, we treat the booking as cancelled on the day of arrival, and no refund is due. Nights you do not use because you arrive late or leave early are not refunded.

Changing your dates

Ask us as early as you can. We will move your booking if the new dates are free, but we cannot promise that they will be.

If we have to cancel

Occasionally something outside anyone's control — fire, flooding, a failure of water or power, or anything else that makes the cabin unsafe or unusable — means we cannot host you. If that happens we will tell you as soon as we know, offer you other dates, and if you would rather not move, refund everything you have paid.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are paid back through PayFast to the card or account you paid with. Bookings made through Airbnb, Booking.com or LekkeSlaap are refunded by that platform, under its own cancellation policy.

Your stay

Check-in is between 14:00 – 18:00; check-out is strictly by 10:00. A late check-out is by prior arrangement only.

Only the number of guests booked may stay in the cabin, and visitors need our approval in advance. Our house rules — quiet hours, smoking, pets and open fires — are part of these terms.

Please read Good to know before you come. The road is dirt, there is no Wi-Fi, and each cabin's pool is heated by a wood fire you tend yourself.

Looking after the cabin

You are responsible for damage to the cabin or its contents during your stay, beyond ordinary wear and tear. If something is damaged we will talk to you about it, and may charge the reasonable cost of repair or replacement.

Your safety and belongings

The resort is in the bush, on a dirt road, with fire-heated pools and braai areas. Please use the facilities with care and supervise children at all times, especially near the pools and fires.

We are not responsible for loss of, or damage to, personal belongings, except where it is caused by our negligence.

Experiences

Some experiences are run by partners rather than by us. We will tell you when that is the case; their own terms and safety requirements may apply as well as ours.

Your personal information

How we collect, use and protect your details is set out in our privacy notice.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
